on Mitchell Edwards
Mitchell Edwards has been working out for eight years, but only three years with guidance. Before he started in the gym, he weighed 140 pounds soaken wet Many would think he was too skinny but today he stands 5 feet, 9 inches and weighs 185 pounds in the off season and 173 pounds with nine percent body fat at show time.
He is proud to say that he has been competing for just one year under a smart and pushy trainer named Everett Baker, who is a trainer at Phoenix Fitness. Baker has trained Edwards through two competitions so far and he is already a National Qualifier.
“I am known for my steel hard abs when competing and I am a firm believer that if you want something bad enough in life, you will do what it takes to achieve it,” Edwards said. “I am also a firm believer that there is nothing you can’t have in life, even a wonderful body.”
Edwards tells people that working out is his first job of the day and his body is his paycheck. He is also a personal trainer at Phoenix Fitness under a great staff and has made a living for the last eleven years as a loan officer at Cummings Mortgage Company.
“Changing a person’s body has really become a love for me. I often remind my clients what the word of God says---Your body is your temple,” he said. “Therefore, you should watch what you put in it. To take your body to a place where it has never been before or for some, back to where it once was, takes hunger, discipline, patience, dedication, and motivation with yourself.”
Edwards believes that dedication and motivation is important because you have to go to the gym even when you don’t want to go and motivate yourself when there is no one else around to do so.
“I have found out that when something comes up when I can’t make it to the gym to work out when I am supposed to, I find my body nor my mind has had its daily pill and you don’t want to be near me when this takes place,” he said. “I have trained people from high school to college athletes. You are never too young or too old to get personal training and advice.”
According to Edwards, people can fix up and feel good about how they look with clothes on, but when are we going to get to the point to do what it takes to look good with our clothes off.
“Good health is the difference between looking good and looking great. Good health is my top priority as a personal trainer.”
